Description
- Tubular bandages are used to hold dressings on fingers or toes, or support injured joints.
- They’re made of seamless fabric tube.
- You can get elasticated ones to place over joints such as the ankle.
- Ones made of tubular gauze can be placed over fingers or toes, but do not provide any pressure to stop bleeding.
Benefits:
- Provides comfortable, effective tissue support.
- Full range of sizes to suit most applications.
- Easy to apply and reapply.
- No pins or tapes needed.
- Washable and reusable.
How to use:
If the bandage is being used following an injury or if the area is inflamed, apply a cold compress to the affected area to minimize swelling and reduce pain before applying the bandage.
- For the ankle and elbow
1. Cut the tubular support bandage to twice the length required for the area to be covered, with 3 cm extra for overlap.
2. Pull the bandage evenly over the limb as a sleeve.
3. Double back over the limb to form a second layer.
Ensure that the top layer overlaps the bottom layer by approximately 3 cm.
- For the wrist and lower arm
1. Cut the tubular support bandage to twice the length required for the area to be covered, with 3 cm extra for overlap.
2. Make two small cuts in the bandage for the thumb, cutting between the lines of the elastic.
3. Pull the bandage over the arm and push thumb through the first hole.
4. Double back over the arm and place thumb through the second hole.
Ensure that the top layer overlaps the bottom layer by approximately 3 cm.
